Slack + Webair AI

Search every Slack message, DM, and file from iMessage — no more digging through channels.

All connections happen inside the Webair AI app via Slack's official OAuth.

Scope today · Roadmap tomorrow

Today's Slack integration is read-only.

Webair AI can search and read what your Slack account already sees — and that's it. It cannot post messages, send DMs, @-mention anyone, or run slash commands. Posting and chat features are on our roadmap and will require a new permission prompt before they're enabled.

Why we built this

Why Webair AI uses Slack.

Slack search gets brutal the moment a workspace fills up. Webair AI fixes that without adding a single new place to check: install once, then text Webair AI from your phone — "what did Eric say about the Q3 budget?", "find the design doc Lara shared in #product last week", "pull the customer thread Sarah forwarded into #support" — and get the answer with the original message linked back to Slack.

Webair AI uses a Slack user token, which means it sees exactly what your Slack account sees and nothing more. Today this is a strictly read-only integration: Webair AI cannot post, reply, send DMs, @-mention, or run any action inside your workspace.

Posting from Webair AI into channels and DMs, @-mentions, and slash commands are on our roadmap. We'll request the additional scopes when those features ship — you'll see a fresh Slack permission prompt and can choose whether to grant them.

How it works

Connecting Slack takes about a minute.

Step 01

Sign in to Webair AI

Create your Webair AI account at app.webair.ai (or log in). Connection happens inside our app, never from this marketing page.

Step 02

Install Webair AI for Slack

From your Webair AI dashboard, click Connect Slack. You'll see the small set of read-only scopes Webair AI requests. Slack handles the OAuth.

Step 03

Search Slack by texting

Ask Webair AI anything about your Slack from iMessage or the web app. Webair AI runs the search live in Slack and replies with the relevant messages and files, linked back to the original.

What data we access

Every permission, in plain English.

These are the exact OAuth scopes Webair AI requests from Slack — and the reason we need each one. We follow the principle of least privilege: nothing extra, nothing optional that isn't surfaced to you.

search:read
Search past Slack messages and files when you ask Webair AI to find something. This is the core scope behind the integration.
channels:read
List public channels so search results can show which channel a result came from.
groups:read
List private channels you have access to so private-channel search results can be returned to you (and only you).
users:read
Resolve Slack user IDs to display names so search results show 'Sarah Chen' instead of an opaque ID.
users:read.email
Match the Slack identity that installed the app to your Webair AI account for permission checks.
files:read
Read the contents of files surfaced in search results (e.g., the actual text of a shared PDF).
team:read
Read basic workspace info (name, icon) so the connected workspace is shown back to you in settings.

Webair AI uses Slack's official OAuth flow. You see this exact list before you grant access — and you can revoke any time.

Data handling

How Slack data is stored and protected.

We treat connected-app data with the same posture as the rest of Webair AI: encrypted, scoped to your account, never sold, and never used to train public AI models.

  • Read-only integration: Webair AI cannot post messages, send DMs, @-mention, or perform any write action in your Slack workspace. The OAuth scopes above are the entire surface.
  • Webair AI uses a Slack user token, which means it sees exactly what your Slack account sees — never more.
  • Webair AI does not back up or export Slack message history. Searches are run live against the Slack API when relevant to your request.
  • Recurring facts (people, projects, decisions) surfaced in your searches may be saved to your private Knowledge Hub so Webair AI can answer faster next time.
  • OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest.
  • Removing the app from your workspace, or disconnecting from inside Webair AI, immediately revokes access.
  • Your Slack content is never used to train any public AI model.
Encrypted at rest Never trained on Revocable any time

How to disconnect Slack

Workspace admins can remove the app at any time: Slack → Settings & administration → Manage apps → search 'Webair AI' → Remove app. Individual users can also disconnect from inside Webair AI: Settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect.

You can also email support@webairai.com and we'll help you disconnect and delete any related data.
